In short: some links on this site earn us a commission if you buy through them. It costs you nothing extra, and it does not change what we recommend.
What this means
The Backyard Vault takes part in affiliate programs. When you follow certain links from this site to a retailer and make a purchase, we may receive a commission from that retailer. You pay the same price you would have paid otherwise. The commission comes out of the retailer’s margin, not your pocket.
This disclosure is made in line with the United States Federal Trade Commission guidance on endorsements and testimonials, 16 CFR Part 255.
Amazon
Where The Backyard Vault participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, it does so as an Amazon Associate, and we earn from qualifying purchases. The Associates Program is an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.
How it affects our recommendations
It does not. We recommend the tool or material we would use on the project being described. We regularly recommend products that earn us nothing, including buying secondhand, renting instead of buying, and not buying a specialist tool at all for a one-off job. If a cheaper option is the right option, we say so.
Commission rates differ between retailers and products. We do not rank, order or select products by what pays best.
Our own products
Printable plans and guides sold through this site are our own. We earn the full amount on those, and we will always make it obvious when we are pointing you at something we made.
